About Christina Marsden
I am experienced and fully qualified in Psychotherapy & Counselling. I have seventeen years experience in counselling, working with individuals, couples and groups. I have also worked extensively with individuals in a health and social care setting. This has included vulnerable adults, children and families. I offer a personal and working knowledge of a safe authentic therapeutic relationship.
I have twenty years experience working with individuals in the Health and Social Care Field. This included twelve years within the field of addiction working as a Drug and Alcohol Treatment Worker within Criminal Justice settings,working peripatetic-ally between Probation Office's, Prison's and Community Based Services.
I gained vast knowledge and experience related to individuals from all walks of life, recognising issues that impact on communities, separate from substance use and misuse.My approach is inclusive, open and honest. I believe if as individuals, we understand ourselves and our relationships we can lead a more healthy life.
I have knowledge and expertise in many areas, These Include, Addiction, Anxiety, Depression, Panic Disorder, Bereavement,self esteem and Relationship Issues. I am willing to discuss at referral if you are unsure or have not seen your specific issue listed. You can refer by contacting me by telephone or by email whichever mode of contact suits, so you can ascertain if i am the right therapist for you.
There are occasions in life when you may feel overwhelmed, overcome or mixed up. I believe Psychotherapy and Counselling offers a confidential space for you at your own pace to build a trusting therapeutic relationship. Safely enabling you to understand how you relate to others. This can help you to recognise, behavioural patterns that may be having a negative impact.
Through this therapeutic relationship you can also gain understanding of your impulses, anxieties, addictions, passivity, irritations, angers or irrational behaviours, how these impact on your emotions, as your emotional well-being is important The impact on self, family and outside relationships Acquiring the insight to make changes that you decide upon to move forward in your life.
I currently run a private practice in Stockport which is conveniently located within walking distance from the train station and major bus routes. Prior to this, the Counselling services I have been a member of, have been in G.P Surgeries, Hospitals, Women's Refuge and Family Centres, Providing Psychotherapy and Counselling to Individuals, Couples and Groups.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and adhere to their exacting guidelines and ethical framework. I am a BACP registered member on the Accredited register.
I am fully and comprehensively insured with the Psychologists Protection Society.
